Folding Techniques for Saving Space

Share now:

If you’re looking to save space in your home, one simple and effective solution is to employ some folding techniques. By properly folding your clothes, linens, and other items, you can significantly reduce the amount of space they take up in your closets, drawers, and storage areas. Here are some folding techniques to consider:

KonMari Folding Techniques

The KonMari method of folding, popularized by organizing expert Marie Kondo, involves folding clothes into compact rectangles that can be stacked vertically in drawers. This not only saves space, but also makes it easier to see and access all of your clothing items. To use this method, lay your clothes flat and fold them into thirds, then fold them in half to create a rectangle.

File Folding Techniques

Similar to the KonMari method, file folding involves folding clothes into compact rectangles that can be stacked vertically in drawers. The difference is that file folding involves folding clothes into a smaller rectangle. Then folding them again into thirds to create a “file” shape. This technique is great for organizing clothes like t-shirts, sweaters, and jeans.

Spa Folding Technique

Spa folding is a simple technique that involves folding towels into geometric shapes, such as triangles or squares. This technique is not only practical, but also visually appealing. For example, you can fold a bath towel into a triangle shape and display it on a towel rack to create a spa-like atmosphere in your bathroom.

Folding Linens

Linens like sheets, pillowcases, and towels can take up a lot of space in your linen closet. To save space, try folding them into thirds and then rolling them up tightly. This technique not only saves space, but also makes it easier to see and access your linens.

Vertical Folding Techniques

If you’re short on drawer space, consider vertical folding. This involves folding clothes in half and then rolling them up tightly, so that they can be stored vertically in a drawer. This technique is especially useful for items like underwear, socks, and leggings.

Hanging Folding Techniques

For items that are prone to wrinkles, like dress pants or blouses, consider hanging folding. This involves folding the item in half and then hanging it over a hanger, with the hanger hook tucked into the waistband. This technique helps to prevent wrinkles while also saving space in your closet.

By employing these folding techniques, you can save space in your home and make it easier to organize your belongings. Whether you’re dealing with a small apartment, a crowded closet, or just an overwhelming amount of stuff, these folding techniques can help you make the most of your space. So go ahead and give them a try – your home (and your sanity) will thank you!

Here’s to creating more space by folding your clothing in new and different ways and RESETTING your life!
